I am Coming to the Full Knowledge of the Truth, Joseph Chang

I grew up in a traditional Chinese family. I had never heard of the gospel, and had very few Christian friends. Not long after I came to the United States to study in 1983, I heard the gospel and was saved in 1984. When I just received the Lord, I could sense the love of the Christian brothers and sisters. I was alone in a foreign country, and I had a very good response toward their love. As time went on, I started to have more appetite for the truth revealed in the Bible.

The Bible is a very mysterious book. Many people read it with specific purposes. Some read it to learn English, some for the study of literature, some for the understanding of Jewish history and culture. The apostle Paul says in 1 Timothy 2:4, “God desires all men to be saved, and to come to the full knowledge of the truth,” and in 2 Timothy 3:16, “All scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” When I just started to read the Bible, I felt that I was not able to fully understand the truth, and I could not understand what God's breathing was. The brothers and sisters encouraged me to read Watchman Nee and Witness Lee's writings. I resisted this at first, for I thought I should read many books by different authors. Gradually, I found out that Watchman Nee and Witness Lee's ministry was based upon the writings of many believers who loved the Lord throughout the centuries. By reading their writings, I started to learn to experience God as my life supply, to exercise my spirit to contact God, and to live a life experiencing the Lord's death and resurrection. God's Word is no longer just law, ordinances, and some perplexing stories. I see that Christ is the reality of all things. God's Word is full of life. I started to have a care for the Lord's move all over the earth.

I thank the Lord for giving us Watchman Nee, Witness Lee, and their writings. Through their leading, I receive more understanding and experiences in the truth.
